Quilt In

Yesterday I was guest speaker at the Strathdale Quilters "Quilt In".
About 150 ladies attended the day and what a lovely group they are.
We had delicious morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea!
There were party games, raffles and tons of lucky door prizes. And "show and tell" of course.

What a day! I am so grateful for the opportunity ot share my quilts.
Look at the corsage I was presented with.

BOM

I have been working on this quilt for some time, well over a year.
I  designed it using the pictures from Christmas cards, wrapping paper, stamps.................. a tea towel!
It's my Block of the Month that has taken a long time to finish.
Why?
Well I got it to the stage where it was all in one piece then what to do about a border?
I started a couple of applique designs. Too fussy.
Too old fashioned.

The last few days I made all these stars.
Too busy.
Too big.
Despair!

Then yesterday I got this idea.
So I unpicked the stars and used the "flying geese" to make this sawtooth border.
What do you think?

Too late. It's on!

chopsticks

Thought I would show you these close up.
They are from a series I have been doing called chopstick quilts.
They are approximately 15cm (or 6") square.
The hanging "rod" is a Japanese chopstick (recycled)
My bit for the environment?

They featuured in my exhibition, A pieceful life,

Knitting

I haven't done much quilting this week. Mostly knitting...

Well, when I'm allowed!
But I have finished this cardigan.

And I started some crotcheting.
I haven't crotcheted since I was at school.
Annie came over on her day off and got me stared but this little bit took me an hour!

More boxes

I made these small quilts for a 30 x 30 (cm) exhibition earlier in the year.
They are a mirror image of each other: interesting?
The fabric is old japanese indigo. They sold!

Classes but no cakes

It's always nice to finish a quilt but I am especially pleased when they come back to class finished.
You can't beat red and white in Jeannie's quilt.

And here's a "Goose in the Pond" well on the way.

And another "boxes " quilt. Hard to believe it's only Jackie's second quilt!

Shopping you say?

While in Melborne I went to one of my favourite shops .
They sell wonderful Japanese fabrics, new and old. I can't resist.

 I love this mending!

Not too sure what I will do with these ones.
There's no rush.

I started this earlier in the year using some of my indigo fabric.
It's  waiting on the hand quilting assembly line.

tunnel vision

The mountain climber and I have just been for a walk. When we were about 10 minutes from home a kid approached us in the street asking for $1. This happens occasionally here with varying excuses: I am rarely sympathetic. He said he needed bus fare home so I offerred to drive him if he came along the short distance to our home.
I call that the genuine need test.
He accepted.
He was a small skinny  fellow with very blond hair (natural? ) not dressed for the very cold weather today. But turns out he is a dirt bike champion with a couple of industry sponsors. Very chatty and very polite! A really nice experience!

A few days...

Well I am back. I was hesitant to tell you all my house has been empty the last few days but now I am back! And have I had a lovely time!

We went to dinner Attica, a very highly rated restaurent where we have never managed to get a booking before.

The food is fantastic and labour intensive!

Oh and I did a bit of shoppping.... Yes I have replaced my camera and perhaps I will be back with more photos when I have introduced the camera to the computer (they don't recognise each other at the moment)

Last night's sunset was magnificent!

Class day

Class day today. I made a cake.
Anyone who went to the Craft show in Melbourne could pick up the free Women's Weekly.
This was the Sticky Date Pudding in that magazine.
I have never made one. Well why would you? They are served up at every event you go to. It doesn't have the caramel sauce yet as I was heating that up to serve. Yum. Yum
Lucky there is photographic evidence though as
MY CAMERA IS BROKEN!

This is what it is doing. Not my colour either!
So I put my card in someone elses's camera. How often can you do that?
Should I buy a new one? Tomorrow?
