I've been knitting

With that last quilt finished I decided it was time to knit.

When I first bought this yarn I had it sitting on the table for a while
but everytime it caught my eye
I wondered what those apples were doing sitting there.

This yarn is such a beautiful shade of green.
I know.
It's stinking hot here lately.
But this is cotton!

I am really enjoying knitting for a change.

By the way did you see this?
What a fabulous place.

Favourite colour

I don't have a favourite colour.
I do, however, like the effect when I make a quite in one or two colors.

In this case yellow and cream.
It's like a burst of sunshine: yellow.
Not that sunshine is in short supply downunder.

I am loving my lastest quilt!
All finished.

This way up?

This quilt is finally in one piece after a lot of sewing
then a bit of un-sewing
(quite a bit, I'm afraid)
and then sewing up again.
Just as well as I have been showing my friends how to do it.
I worked out the pattern myself,
hence a few considerations as to the piecing.
All the fabric came from my stash.
How long do you have to have owned fabric to qualify for "from my stash"?
Not sure which way is UP yet.

Why stop at one?

It has been so hot lately and I found the wrist watch hot
so
I thought...... a pendant!

Hmm, not so sure the shape is good.
Maybe I should just give it away?

Instead I  unpicked it and joined the back and front differently.

That's neater.
I think I want more.

Pins in my mouth

I have a bad habit. When I am sewing a lot,
I tend to put pins in my mouth.
I know.....it's dangerous.

For some time I have been meaning to make a little pin cushion for my wrist.
And then I saw this.
Yes! A wrist watch pin cushin, that's what I want!

But then I couldn't decide what time to set the hands ....

A friend said her favourite time is "nap" time. 2pm.
I love it.

Just stitching

We are heading in to a few days of hot, hot, hot weather.
I am  talking 40ish.......
 Celsius...

So I am going to slow it down
and just stitch!

(Not much more to do on this one)

Summer workshops

I have been working on a quilt for us to make over the summer.

The idea came from here

It seemed to be constructed with a foundation pieced diamond shape

But I am trying mine with pieced strips

And then cutting slightly crooked triangles with my 60 degree triangle.

And then I have laid them out to make hexagons.

But I only join HALF of the hexagon.

That allows me to join the quilt in strips

With no tight corners!

Easy!
