I don't know

I don't know why I haven't done this sooner....
my group's exhibition starts NEXT week!
Come along.
This morning we set up a little display in the window of a local bank.
Not sure which I like more:
the quilts or the streetscape.
It's like the old whatsitcalled....
double exposure!

Here's how

First, grow some lavender (or pop 'round here).
Cut some long straight stalks, an uneven number.
I have nine.
You need a length of ribbon about 1/4" or 7mm wide,
at least a metre.

Tie the bunch tightly
keeping one end the length of the bunch plus enough to tie a bow.
Then fold the stalks down while weaving the ribbon.....under
then over the stalks,
round
and round.
When you get to the end of the lavender wrap the ribbon round
and tie a bow.
Then trim off the ends.
Done!

Lavender

The lavender in my garden is ready to pick!

Do you know how to make a lavender "wand"?

Drive in the country

Today I went for a drive in the country to Ararat.
That's about an hour away.
It was a lovely day: not hot and not cold.
(We've all had a bit of weather lately haven't we?)
I am really inspired by the colours I saw today.
I went to see an exhibiton at the Ararat Art Gallery.
John parkes 2002
I loved this piece. The brief decription said:
Linen cloth, indigo,  reactive and discharge dyes.
Machine pieced and hand quilted (tacked)

And I loved this small piece.
Underneath was a "ken" doll.

Pop over here for more photos.

Still still knitting

I am still still knitting.
Sometimes it feels so slow
but I still like to keep in touch and I love it when
someone from near or far gets in touch,

So I thought I would show you the third one of these quilts
Cheerfull, don't you think?

Still knitting

I'm still knitting so
not much to show you this week.
Except this.....

My quilt group have been making quilts
which we donate to our local Hospice, Gandarra.
Here are a couple I have just finished.
They have been years in the making, because I prefer to hand quilt,
But instead they have been machine quilted.
Isn't this fabric gorgeous! ??
It is from a furnishing fabric sample book.

 Difficult to give away....

What a disaster.....

We went away for the night with a one and a half hour car trip each way.
I finished the back of my new cardigan but
when I went to start the front....
No needle!
I don't know about you but I always have something to do.
I hate being idle
and I hate to think I have lost my precious bamboo circular needle.

I found it when I got home!

It has been very hot here today and there's little to do but stay inside with the blinds drawn.
But my knitting is well on the way.
It is cotton.
