on a roll

I have this collection of Japanese silks for a while.
I changed my mind on the initial plan
and so they sat for a bit waiting for inspiration to strike.
And it did as you can see in the last couple of posts.

And then I thought I might do this little quilt again....

And again with the same block in a different position.

They are just over 10" (26cm) square.

the process

I enjoy lots of things about making quilts, even this part.
Some people make a fuss about "squaring up" blocks.
I am not that fussy usually....

When cutting out the corner pieces for these blocks
I did allow myself a bit of lee way.
I always do with triangles
so I did have a bit of tidying up to do.

The trimmings are photogenic as well though don't you think?

I wonder how much sharing up others do?

series

I like this pattern so much I thought I would do it again.

I haven't decided how I will hang them yet.
What do you think?

These quilts are quite small, 2 1/2 feet square.
The fabric is from old silk kimonos
and I am enjoying the hand quilting without a hoop.
Piecefull stitching.....

choosing

With the quilting done I had to decide on binding.
I always like my quilts to look good
from both sides.
That left me with the dilemma of what would suit?
So I decided to make a double binding.

It is ages since I have made one but luckily I still had a scrap of an old one to copy.

It is fiddly!

But worth it don't you think?

It seems I have been working
on this quilt for ages
but I'm getting there......

Pin cushions

I had a bit of fun the other night.
I have been teaching small local classes for years but decided to branch out.

Remember these little pin cushions?
We hand pieced these at Lane Learning.
I know hand pieced!

I made up lots of little kits....

The class was only 1 1/4 hrs.
Just a taster really.
Remember how you got hooked?
