Unplanned

It was unplanned that my two ideas would collide like this.

I realise that it was in remaking this quilt that I had

Linda Brannock, Jan Patek and Gerry Kimmel on my mind.

I am making progress on my houses quilt

so much so it has out grown the design wall,

that is, the quilt on the wall I have been pinning the blocks to.

But when to stop?

Here's the one I did earlier:

About 20 years earlier!

It's on my son's bed and I had to get him to message me a photo.

Just now. Ahh technology.....

It's from this book.

Glad you kept them? I am.

Old favourites

Sometimes I think I'm done with quilting.
What more is there I want to do?
And people say to you:
"And how many quilts do you have now?"
And then you stumble on a new blog like this one
and I am back at the beginning looking at all the quilts that got me started.
And I am getting started.
Again.
This is my first finish for 2016.

It's from this book by Linda Brannock and Gerry Kimmel
dated 1992.
I have used fabric from the stash for the back
and I'm liking it more and more.
The current project is also from one of these old books.

Australia Day

Every year the "Eat More Lamb" people put out an advertisement
to encourage us to wack some chops on the barbie.
Often they create a bit of fuss.
This year is no exception.
Operation Boomerang!

You can decide for yourself.
With my son living in Austin, Texas
I am disappointed that Lee Lin Chin did not have him on her Rescue list.

Year of the House

This year we anticipate getting a bit of work done on our house.

Not looking forward to it.

So I am going to indulge myself and concentrate on houses for my quilts.

Actually I have already started.

I should start one of those "make this with me"

but you can sort that yourselves.

The house blocks are all going to measures 10" x 6" ( so far)

and I have done a few basic ones to start with

and then I have changed a bit.

I am enjoying this.

Tidying up

I have been sorting my scraps.
And "string piecing".
I am amazed how many 8" blocks I made from the off-cuts
without getting into the stash.
Yet.
And
do you do this?
I always have a little pile next to my machine to stitch
so I don't have to cut the threads.

That way I am making these little 4" blocks as well.
How small is too small for a scrap?

New year resolutions

I don't make any New Year resolutions
But I do have a plan.
Well not so much a plan really....
a mission to alway have a quilt at hand to gift
when the feeling strikes me.

That, of course, would mean finishing a few of the "tops" that are in the cupboard.
So I washed a King-size batting (120" x 120") and spread out 4 quilts.
It used up the whole thing.
Now the quilting, you know me, by hand.
Where to start?
