one inch

I was rearranging my scraps the other day

and decided to make some 1" strips

and then do something with them.

So satisfying.

And then one tiny pin cushion,

then two...

Big Sky

 I just can't help myself.
Making these little pictures is so addictive.

the two above are not quite completed as I think I need to add some detail.
I have the scraps are spread out on my sewing table and I start fiddling on yet another one.
And two does not make a series.

So here is a third one.
These are about the size of your old panorama printed photos.
Remember them?

One tree or two?

I have spent weeks hand quilting and I'm almost up to the binding
but today I had the urge do go back to something little.

Not sure whether to add another tree or
Is less more?

And while we're here
what are your thoughts on matts?
And I want to talk about something else....
The other day someone was telling me how all her favourite bloggers have deserted her for Instagram.
This, she said, is only giving her a brief encounter rather than the spending time with friends.
I think I agree. I miss that lots of my favourites blog less often and the way Instagram 'orders' the posts it is easy to miss things, not to mention nuisance 'followers'.
So, revive the Blog I say.

on a roll

I have this collection of Japanese silks for a while.
I changed my mind on the initial plan
and so they sat for a bit waiting for inspiration to strike.
And it did as you can see in the last couple of posts.

And then I thought I might do this little quilt again....

And again with the same block in a different position.

They are just over 10" (26cm) square.

miniatures

I love making little things
 and small quilts.
Have you noticed?

This is my Christmas Star.
I couldn't show you before this
because that would have spoiled the surprise.

I  made up kits for my loyal students who come to classes every week.
I had fun hand drawing the pattern and the instructions
and printing them on nice paper.
A bit old fashioned looking.

This one is a bit easier for the newer girls.

I have done quite a few....

I always think small quilts look good as part of a collective.
And I gave the kits to 4 of my sisters, who are quilters as well.
Ooo I hope they don't see this post before Christmas.

I can't remember

.

I have been so busy these last couple of weeks
that I have had trouble thinking what to post.

I can't rembember if I have already shown you these little quilts.
They combine my love of solids, little things
and knitting!

They measure about 6" square.
I gave them to my sister recently for her birthday.
She is a fantastic knitter but didn't mind me using needles in this way as they were feeling brittle and I thought they would break if I knitted with them

chopsticks

Thought I would show you these close up.
They are from a series I have been doing called chopstick quilts.
They are approximately 15cm (or 6") square.
The hanging "rod" is a Japanese chopstick (recycled)
My bit for the environment?

They featuured in my exhibition, A pieceful life,
