Holiday hand stitching

How has your Christmas been?

I have been having a nice time embellishing my tea cosies.

In the past I have done all the hand sewing and then made up the tea cosy

But this time I made them up and then added the rest.

This way I can keep adding as much as I like........

Not sure if I'm finished yet.

So what have I been doing?

I sold this quilt...

We hardly had time to get to know one another.

Sad and happy.

And I have been getting ready for Christmas:

putting up some decorations,

and making cards.

I drew them myself with my new fountain pen.

That's the one I did last year.

I bought the blank cards because I just love the recyclable envelopes.

Hmm what next?

Done

Much has happened while I have been stitching away on this quilt.....

or so they tell me.

I have pinned my new quilt to an old quilt as I have not yet decided which way is up.

That is, I have not sewn on the hanging sleeve

so you can see the quilt behind it, almost.

This beautiful blue fabric is from old japanese futon covers.

It has a linen-like feel but has a really dense colour don't you think?

Still stitching

In spite of the many distractions

I have been peacefully stitching....

and I am almost done.

Not sure which way is up though.

I love these blues.

The fabric is from old (or not so old) japanese futon covers.

You like?

What were you thinking?

I suppose you were thinking that life for me has been one long holiday.
I have been back home for some time but in recovery mode.
I have been  sewing though.

The blocks have stacked up.
And soon I will join them all up....

India 6: people

You know when you are doing the touristy thing,

trying to take photos, waiting for a clear shot

and someone always photobombs it?

Well, since I have been trying my hand at drawing and watercolour I welcome them!

I think a few people add context, don't you?

India 5: the step well

This trip was pretty full on!
It is so nice to lay your head down at night and sleep all night.

I can't find "the step well" on our itinerary but I do recall the suggestion that we make a short detour.

It was so worth it.
Located between Jaipur and Bharatpur it was one of the most memorable sights of our trip.

The Chand Baori is a step well built over a thousand years ago and is one of the largest in the world.

It is not easy to find apparently, one of the hidden secrets of India.

India 4: Taking a train

And then there was the day we took a local train.

The plan was to board a local train for a 2 hour journey and I must admit the idea had me worried.....

no air conditioning, crowded, who knows?

Well there was no need to fear. It was not crowded, there were fans, a few locals and I was colour coordinated!

And meeting the locals was fun.

And when was the last time you hung our the train door?
