very soon

I am going on a trip very soon.

So I wanted to make a little thing for my little things....

It should tuck nicely into the corner of my suitcase.

What's in a name

I know I have said this before

but when you want to submit work to be exhibited

they ask "its" name.

So I need help...

 This is the same quilt but the photos were taken at night 

and in the daytime.

The fabric is from an old Japanese futon cover.

For a while I had used it as a curtain,

until I noticed  the side towards the sun was fading.

Discharge dyeing by the sun?

It seems like ages since I have posted.

It's easy to get out of the habit

and feel like there is nothing to say.

This lovely little cot size quilt is in one piece now

 and I love to admire the stack of quilts.

Have I done this quote?

A surprise visit is a great gift to a friend.

It shows how much you value their friendship.

I love giving away my quilts. 

When I hear good news

it's great to say:

"Here, I made this"

 But my stash has got a bit low so I thought 

I would make some cot-size quilts

 I love this star pattern made in strips rather than blocks.

And fabrics from my stash....

Recovering

I am recovering from a fantastic week

spent with many talented and entertaining women.

 

Mostly I learnt some new stitches which I have turned into my own.

 

 

Most of the class made beautifull pieces for their wall.

Not  me!

I decided to sample every stitch separately and save them in a little book

I am going to call:

 "stitched together or pulled apart"

In the meantime

I have started quilting this quilt

but in the meantime

I thought I would do something with the scraps from that quilt.

The pieces were tiny and I just thought I would see what I could make.

I didn't even cut the selvedges off!

Hand quilted

and there you go....

it looks different in the evening light doesn't it?

Still keeping busy

Can I say I have had a "brief" distraction to finish this?
