One tree or two?

I have spent weeks hand quilting and I'm almost up to the binding

but today I had the urge do go back to something little.

Not sure whether to add another tree or

Is less more?

And while we're here

what are your thoughts on matts?

And I want to talk about something else....

The other day someone was telling me how all her favourite bloggers have deserted her for Instagram.

This, she said, is only giving her a brief encounter rather than the spending time with friends.

I think I agree. I miss that lots of my favourites blog less often and the way Instagram 'orders' the posts it is easy to miss things, not to mention nuisance 'followers'.

So, revive the Blog I say.

Nearly there

I am nearly finished my first ever real teddy bear. 

He is so cute,
so huggable.
I must thank my friends who came to the rescue with spare parts and instructions!

Remember when

Do you remember when everyone, or so it seemed,

was making teddy bears?

Well I didn't. I never finished the first one.

I think I started this in the last century, millennium even.

I no longer have the pattern. I probably never did. Just all the pieces cut out.

So it's all sewn up and when my friends come to the rescue he will have some joints.

Almost March

Sometimes it seems time passes so slowly and then all of a sudden it's gone!

Since Christmas I have been cutting lots and then sewing a bit everyday

until finally I basted this quilt a few days ago.

I must admit I wasn't overly thrilled with the quilt when I had finished the top.

Don't you hate that?

All that work and then an underwhelming result.

 

 

I like it better now I have started quilting.

I am using Wonderfil Spagetti thread.

I really like this thread: it's thicker that quilting thread but thinner that Perle

and it is mercerised so it slips through nicely.

What do you think of the colour choice (orange)?

I rather feel I have lost my mojo the last few weeks.

Not sure if it is all the political turmoil or just because it's Summer.

I have enjoyed a bit of hand stitching though.

Always keeps you going doesn't it?

And I do like a good sign.

A few stitches...

January seems like on long holiday.

I have carried my little sewing kits for weeks hoping to put a few stitches in these small things.

At last I have finished a couple of things.  

Some indigo.... 

and a new tea cosy.

I have trying out a new pattern.
