Quilt In

Yesterday I was guest speaker at the Strathdale Quilters "Quilt In".
About 150 ladies attended the day and what a lovely group they are.
We had delicious morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea!
There were party games, raffles and tons of lucky door prizes. And "show and tell" of course.

What a day! I am so grateful for the opportunity ot share my quilts.
Look at the corsage I was presented with.

BOM

I have been working on this quilt for some time, well over a year.
I  designed it using the pictures from Christmas cards, wrapping paper, stamps.................. a tea towel!
It's my Block of the Month that has taken a long time to finish.
Why?
Well I got it to the stage where it was all in one piece then what to do about a border?
I started a couple of applique designs. Too fussy.
Too old fashioned.

The last few days I made all these stars.
Too busy.
Too big.
Despair!

Then yesterday I got this idea.
So I unpicked the stars and used the "flying geese" to make this sawtooth border.
What do you think?

Too late. It's on!

chopsticks

Thought I would show you these close up.
They are from a series I have been doing called chopstick quilts.
They are approximately 15cm (or 6") square.
The hanging "rod" is a Japanese chopstick (recycled)
My bit for the environment?

They featuured in my exhibition, A pieceful life,

Knitting

I haven't done much quilting this week. Mostly knitting...

Well, when I'm allowed!
But I have finished this cardigan.

And I started some crotcheting.
I haven't crotcheted since I was at school.
Annie came over on her day off and got me stared but this little bit took me an hour!

More boxes

I made these small quilts for a 30 x 30 (cm) exhibition earlier in the year.
They are a mirror image of each other: interesting?
The fabric is old japanese indigo. They sold!

Classes but no cakes

It's always nice to finish a quilt but I am especially pleased when they come back to class finished.
You can't beat red and white in Jeannie's quilt.

And here's a "Goose in the Pond" well on the way.

And another "boxes " quilt. Hard to believe it's only Jackie's second quilt!
