Coverack

12 miles: mostly moderate but a few hard bits.
Today is the first day I didn't have to carry my waterproofs.
That's because I wore them!
All day.
No need to worry about sunburn and my shoes do seem to be waterproof!
Today's highlights....
Don't you love signs?

And HE loves lifeboat stations.

It was wild weather most of the day.

Beautiful new oak bridge on the path built like a ship.

And then finally today we got to play the cheat card.
It was like the Monopoly card (go straight to Go.....)
We skipped the last bit of the path which had fallen down
(like I felt yesterday)
and went straight into the village.

The Lizard

14 miles: took forever!
Had a shower and went straight to the pub.
Here are the highlights

Porthleven this morning.

Mullion Cove.

The highlight of the day was these fellows.
We were at the pub next door where this "choir" had gathered to celebrate the 40th Wedding Anniversary of one of their friends. The singing of this 20-strong all male choir was fantastic.

Porthleven

14 miles: mostly 'easy' with a bit of up and down just when we were really tired.
Took us 7 or 8 hours. Who knows. Too tired to look!
Did you notice we had a couple of days off in Padstow?
Then spent yesterday catching public transport to Penzance....
Feel like we lost all our fitness in that time.
Here's today's show and tell:

St Michael's mount as we walked around it.
I think I might do up a few pot plants when I get home.
Cutest little letter box in the middle of nowhere. We missed this morning's post.

Just what you don't want to see!

And at last Porthleven and we beat the rain. As I write this, in the pub, waiting for our dinner
It is bucketing down out there.

Please don't take a-fence

If you are a local reading this please don't take a-fence
but everything is fenced with gates or stiles....
shhh, they are still listening...

the name on this bench is MI6

a stile without a fence...
hardly a gate at all...
steps over the wall
big old slates up cycled as fence posts
lovely stone walls
and walled alleys and gardens in Padstow.
Lucky I don't have the energy to get my camera out more often.

Padstow

12 miles:9 strenuous......
Oh whatever. We're here! Took a while.
Wore shorts today because we expected rain.
Less to get wet.
Didn't rain. Ouch sunburnt on the back of my legs.
Port Isaacs (Doc Martin TV show, Port Wen)

A quilt?

Look how far we've WALKED in the last few days!

Port Quin

This plaque at Pentire Point commemorates the moving war poem " For the Fallen" written somewhere on this point by Laurence Binyon in 1914 at the start of WWI. The plaque bears the poem's fourth (and most famous stanza):

Polzeath
Lucky for us the tide was out this afternoon and saved us lots more up and down as we cut across the beaches and then caught the ferry the last bit to Padstow

and our lovely B & B.
