Sometimes

Sometimes it's nice to let world events

(and local elections)

just wash over you while you sit and stitch.

Recently I asked for help choosing thread for this quilting.

While making the little wrap (in my last post)

I recalled how much I love this old linen thread.

I

The happy medium: it is thicker than quilting thread but thinner than the Spagetti thread.

I'm happy.

  2. Looking at it on the spool it doesn't look as light as when you have used it in your quilting. What a pretty color.
Are you kimono pieces thick as say denim? I can imagine they were wonderfully. It's beautiful.

  7. Hi Jean,
No the fabric is not particularly thick but the darker one is quite a fine weave making the “pull” required to get the needle through a bit more difficult.
Also the linen thread is not mercerised like the Spagetti thread or quilting thread so it is more difficult to pull through as well.
I love the linen thread though and am really pleased with the result so it’s worth it.
However said hand quilting was fast?

    1. Just going back thru some of your posts; and I noticed an answer to a question I had earlier. Good that the pull wasn't too hard, it makes it a bit easier to get the quilting done. Do you use wax on your threads? My Mother In Law swore by it when she hand quilted. It made a big difference to getting it thru some of the thick cloth.
