I really want to

I really want to draw.
I want to keep a journal.
I want to draw and do little paintings on my next holiday.
With this in mind I have done some classes and I know I have a long way to go.
I know, lots of practise and more classes.
But in the meantime I want to know what I should be using?
Which pens? That don't leak on planes and trains.
Which notebooks? That open flat?
I have made a couple you can see back here
but where to now?

Sometimes

Sometimes it's nice to let world events

(and local elections)

just wash over you while you sit and stitch.

Recently I asked for help choosing thread for this quilting.

While making the little wrap (in my last post)

I recalled how much I love this old linen thread.

I

The happy medium: it is thicker than quilting thread but thinner than the Spagetti thread.

I'm happy.

Gadgets

Every time I start to plan my holidays

I start to worry about all those chargers and cords and connectors.

Especially as these days you tend to carry them in your hand luggage.

So I have made a little pouch-wrap kind of thingy.

And the I get to take along something I made,

and in my favourite old japaneses fabrics.

Pieced

My latest quilt is all in one piece
and basted ready to quilt.
But hard to photograph.
To start with I took it outside so you could see how these leaves have turned.
Not a good shot of the quilt though.
 So then I tried inside.
Do you like the silhouette?
Still can't see the pattern though.
Hmm. A bit better. A bit wrinkled.
It's a simple cross design in 2 fabrics. Minimalist.

The next big decision: which thread?
A sashiko look or just blue on blue texture?

Repetition

Repetition
Contemplation

I have been unpicking kimonos.
Cotton ones.
Just these two. I have a project in mind.
Slow and steady work.

En plein air

I have been wanting to post a picture of this recent finish for about a week

but needed another pair of hands.

Yesterday when I tried the Mountain Climber was digging in the garden.

So I took the quilt to him.....

"Yes, yes, just hold this for a minute?"

See the green leaves in the background?

With only 2 days left before Winter those leaves just hang in there and are still green.

They are the last to leave and the first to arrive.

Like me at a party.

Oh yes and the back.

Those bits down the side date from a quilt about 20 years ago.
